Peaches, chia gel and protein powder make an easy smoothie

Quick & Easy Chia Gel and Peach Smoothie

When you’re short on time, but need a quick pick me up or something to take with as you head out the door, try this quick and easy Peach & Chia Gel Smoothie!  This 3 ingredient smoothie is loaded with omega-3’s, protein and fiber, and takes less than 5 minutes! It incorporates fresh or frozen peaches, Chia Gel and any protein powder or collagen that you happen to have on hand.

Here’s the Recipe!

~ One large peach

~ 5 oz of chia gel (best if you already have this in the fridge, which I usually do, for just such an occasion)

~ 1 scoop of protein powder or collagen ( I used Orgain Collagen Peptides)

~ Cold water (any amount, to your preferred consistency)

*optional flavoring.  I used a packet of True Lemon Peach lemonade

Cut up your peach, add in the chia gel, collagen, and cold water to your desired consistency and blend!

Helpful Tips:

  • Leave the skin on the peach, for extra fiber.
  • Make the chia gel in advance and keep it in the fridge.  Click here for my blog and recipe on how to make Chia Gel – and Why You Should! It has a variety of uses, and easily stays good for a week at minimum.
  • I make my chia gel rather thick, close to the consistency of a thick shake.  I do so because I like to add the gel to other beverages, creating a wide variety of unique chia beverages and flavor profiles. In this particular recipe, I am adding the cold water to thin out the final mixture. You can add as little or as much as you’d like.
  • You can use fresh or frozen peaches.  Right now it’s August and Colorado peaches are at their prime, so there’s extra incentive to go with fresh! However, most stores carry frozen peaches, which may be your best bet in the off-season.
  • Any additional flavoring is optional.  I taste tested mine and thought it needed a little extra sweetness.  I keep a a variety of True Lemon flavor packets on hand. The peach happens to be one of my all time favorites, is naturally flavored and has only 10 kcal a packet! It definitely enhanced the intensity of the peach flavor!  I also think that the True Lemon Wildberry packet would work just as well.
  • As with most smoothies, if you prefer a thicker consistency, you may want to use frozen fruit, or toss a few ice cubes into your blender, along with the other ingredients.
  • I added in the Orgain collagen for some extra protein (the chia gel has protein as well).  You can add any protein powder that you’d like, but keep in mind that if it’s a flavored variety it will alter the taste.
